The way life should be. The Maine motto is one we embrace here at Maine Home Connection. Being a locally owned and operated business, we try and embrace everything the state has to offer us. It’s always an honor when people who are out of state choose us to help shepherd them into the right home, and right town, for them.
With the new reality of COVID-19, I feel even more thankful for my home in Maine. Being near both trails and the water allows my family to practice social distancing while still embracing the natural beauty of our state. And so it comes as no surprise to me that data has seen home searches drop in metro areas. Google searches for “homes for sale” have declined an average of 32 percent, according to a new study from LendingTree that analyzed the nation’s 50 largest metro areas. Some cities have seen a faster drop than others. The real-estate markets that have been impacted the most are Tucson; Columbus, Ohio; and San Diego, where interest has dwindled nearly 50 percent.
At this time, metro areas have been impacted more drastically by Covid-19 than rural areas. This begs the question – will Covid-19 be the catalyst that has people moving back to smaller towns? Across the nation nurseries and seed stores have seen sales grow exponentially. As people stay home they are trying their hand at growing their own produce. Is this the first step to revitalizing our local farms? Only time will tell regarding many of these questions, but they at least instill a sense of hope and growth.
As always, we’re hoping you and your families stay safe, healthy, and sane during these times. Find Maine Homes for Sale with less stress on our website.
