While we may be focused on our collaboration with Douglas Ridge, those of us at Maine Home Connection are excited to hear that the idea of sustainable neighborhoods is catching on.

As profiled in Green & Healthy HOMES Maine Magazine, Kennebunk gained their own high-performance development. Re-purposed from a motor-court that was last operational in the 60’s, Ginger Hill Design + Build purchased the property in 2015 to build their vision. The neighborhood features four homes, all built to be air tight and super insulated. While not precision engineered, they are able to create a high-performance home by using double wall construction, dense packed cellulose insulation, heat pumps, metal roofs, and Energy Star appliances.

All homes are currently occupied, but Ginger Hill Design + Build is currently working on a 10-lot subdivision in Arundel. To learn more about that development and Ginger Hill, check out their website. If you’d prefer a high-performance home in Brunswick, Topsham, or built on your own land, check out Douglas Ridge. We hope this trend continues because everyone deserves a healthy home.
