How long does it take to build a famous structure? Many of the world’s great building took more than a decade to complete, and some took even longer. Some of history’s most famous structures took centuries to build. The Great Pyramid of Giza, for example, was built more than 4,000 years ago and took 20 years to complete.
Other buildings were constructed over a longer period of time: the Taj Mahal took almost half a century to build (and another couple centuries before being opened to tourists, which I visited in 2012). Meanwhile, some structures were completed in just a few years or even months: New York City’s Brooklyn Bridge was finished in 1883 after 14 years of construction; the Eiffel Tower was completed in 1889 after two years’ work; and Stonehenge took about three decades to build between 3000-2000 BCE but probably not by humans alone!
When it comes to new home construction in Maine, there are currently 72 properties available in Cumberland County ranging in price from $325,000 to just over $2 million. There are 34 condos on the market as well, most of which are in the immediate Portland area.
So if you are thinking about building your next home, I can pretty much guarantee that is isn’t going to take a decade to complete. To learn more about your options, let’s find time to talk soon.
